Survivors

I watched the first two episodes of the remake of Survivors this afternoon (whilst ironing, not time-wasting!), something I'd deliberated about doing, because I still have very strong memories of the first time it was aired. It was originally shown in 1975 so I would have been in my mid-teens, but I still vividly remember being actually too scared to sleep at night after I'd watched it, and yet completely unable to resist watching the next episode, because I had to know what happened next.

My mistake was when I recorded the new series, so that Hairy can watch it when he comes home. I couldn't resist the temptation to watch just a bit to see whether it was as good as the original... If I remember correctly, I think even the opening credits pay homage to its predecessor, which I recall having aeroplanes and passport stamps (oh, and something white falling onto the screen, which for years I thought was an egg - don't know why - but which I was later told, condescendingly by one of my brothers, was a flask) whereas the new credits have airport shots and crowds.

I didn't manage to watch just a few minutes, I watched two episodes, and then had to ensure series record was on for the rest...I don't know yet whether it will be as good all the way through as the original series one (it got progressively worse through series two and three), but it definitely has the 'unable to stop watching' suspense thing going on. And the horror. Don't know if I'm going to be able to sleep tonight...
